Resetting your Scanner to READ 13 Character ISBN

Due to constraints on the number of ISBN numbers available using the 10 character numbers, the ISBN authority has decided to expand the ISBN number to 13 characters which will mean that you will need to change your scanner settings to accommodate this. Where your scanner is currently set to read the 10 characters ISBN's. As a user you will have to scan all of the 10 characters ISBN barcodes and then the scanner will have to be reset using the barcodes provided below under the brand of scanner that you have to enable the 13 characters ISBN's to be scanned. These barcodes will have to be used to change the scanner back to 10 characters when required. It is not possible to change from a 10 character ISBN to a 13 character ISBN or vice versa without first resetting the scanner.

Step 1. Go to setup mode by scan pressing the trigger on barcode.
Step 2. scan pressing the trigger the ISBN character barcode required to be changed or RESET
Step 3. scan pressing the trigger END

Print out the manual or just relevant pages as needed. Firstly confirm any setting which are not 'Default' Commomly the Cable (Interface type) and Trigger modes are changed.
Step 1. scan pressing the trigger 'Start of configuration' (Top page 7)
Step 2. scan pressing the trigger 'RESET'
Step 3. scan pressing the trigger 'End of Configuration' This 'Cancels the conversion from EAN to ISBN'

Step 1. Locate your programming guide. You can order new ones from us or you may download MUL-53221-07.pdf
Step 2. Locate the page with ISBN/ISSN Conversion (page 42 in above manual.)
Step 3. Scan 'Start of Configuration' on top of page.
Step 4. Scan either 'Active or Inactive' depending on your requirements.
Step 5. Scan 'End of Configuration' at the bottom of the page.

You DO NOT have to turn your scanner off for the new settings to work!
